Much More Munsch
World Premiere
February 2 - September 1, 2008

Clang, Clang, Rattle-Bing-Bang... The Manitoba Children's Museum is making noise with Much More Munsch, our new travelling exhibit based on the books of celebrated children's author Robert Munsch.

For the past twenty years, Robert Munsch has created a distinctive method of imagining, developing and telling his stories. His books are the outcomes of a dynamic creative process. This 1,200 sq.ft. bilingual exhibit welcomes kids into Robert Munsch's home, encourages them to explore his world and discover their own creative abilities.

Mix and match words, phrases, scenes and sounds and discover the art of storytelling. Perform for your friends and family. Stomp your way to Mortimer's room. Get Thomas into his snowsuit. Create your own cast of characters. Be one of the first to read and hear unpublished stories. It's fiction! It's fun! It's fantastic! It's the Much More Munsch world premiere!
For ages 12 and under. Included with museum admission.

Accompanying School Programs:

I Want to be a Storyteller: Preschool-Grade 3 (3 versions)
Writer's Workshop: Grades 4- 6
Call 924- 4004 or email schools@childrensmuseum.com for program details.

Much More Munsch is presented by Friesen's and generously supported by the RBC Foundation, Premiere Van Lines, The Department of Canadian Heritage and The Winnipeg Foundation.

Festival of the Arts
The Manitoba Children's Museum is proud to present its annual Kids Festival of the Arts.  Get ready because we are about to ROCK your world with this year's theme - ART ROCKS!  In collaboration with summer's newest exhibit From Crystal to Gems, we will be looking at creative ways to explore the world of crystals, rocks, and minerals through various art forms and activities.

Join us daily from 12:00PM to 4:00PM during the week of Monday, August 4 to Saturday, August 9 for rock-tastic crafts and activities.

Kids Festival of the Arts Activities:

Monday, August 4
Design your very own no-fuss pebble pet that you can carry in your pocket. They don't shed and don't require feeding, but sadly will sink immediately if dropped in water.

Tuesday, August 5
Create your very own masterpiece as we make Pebble Mosaics.

Wednesday, August 6
We will be making our very own colourful crystal paint for you to enjoy!

Thursday, August 7
Museums are a great place to look at fossils but the Manitoba Children's Museum will help you to construct your very own fossil!

Friday, August 8
We will be teaching you how to make some Rock Candy! Now beware that too much sugar can be bad for your teeth, so make sure to check out how to make your very own toothpaste too!

Also please join us on Friday, August 8 at 3:00PM for a rockin' good time!  Special guest Mr. Mark will be performing some of his original songs and old favourites for the whole family.

Saturday, August 9
We will be making a clear crystal paint that will dry into a gorgeous painting!
