Self-Guided Explorations
Learning through Exploration
The museum offers self-guided explorations for those who prefer unstructured learning opportunities. We believe that there is great value in learning through investigation and discovery. Our permanent galleries foster imagination, encourage creativity and develop critical thinking skills through interactive exhibits and hands-on activities.
Explorations are available for groups of ten or more children. For preschool and kindergarten groups, we require one adult supervisor for every five children. For Grades 1-5, the museum requires one adult supervisor for every seven children in the group.
Explorations must be booked in advance. Please call 924.4004 or email: schools@childrensmuseum.com or fax the Reservation Request form to 956-2122

Museum Access Program
School Programs and Explorations
The Manitoba Children’s Museum offers one free school program per year to every class in the Winnipeg 1 School Division. If you are interested in booking a program or visit, please contact the Sales & Bookings Coordinator.
Arts Club
Another school year is starting up and MCM is proud to offer its Arts Club
again this year to students in grades 4 and 5 who attend Access Schools
(schools that have been identified by Statistics Canada as being situated
in less priviledged areas.) This free after-school program runs every Friday
from 4-6 p.m in six-week sessions throughout the year.
Arts Club offers these kids an opportunity to learn an art medium with the support of guest instructors in dance, pottery, drumming or other arts media. It provides students with fun and exciting ways to express their creativity. Last fall, Arts Club students received 6 hours of dance instruction from a local dance instructor and choreographer and participated in the museum's inaugural Way Off Broadway Dance Extravaganza fundraiser.
Arts Club also provides each participating child with a free family membership to ensure that the child and his/her family are able to continue enjoying MCM long after the child's Arts Club experience is complete.
We are looking forward to more fun with the Arts Club this year!
If you are interested in learning about ways to support our Arts Club or other Access Programming, please contact Janet McLeod at 924- 4010 or email: jmcleod@childrensmuseum.com.
Special Programming
for Kids and Families
Mini-Mondays
Mondays are special days at the museum from mid-September to mid-May. Between
10 a.m. and 2 p.m., we tailor activities and events to our preschool visitors.
Join our volunteers at the Creation Station and make imaginative crafts
or settle in on our floor mats and be captivated by our storyteller at
11 a.m. and 1:00 p.m. All events take place in the foyer.

There are no school visits scheduled during Mini Monday programming in order to offer our smallest visitors opportunities to explore the museum at their own pace and with others their own size.
Check out our event
calendar for this month's event details
and schedule.

are suited to all children. Parental discretion is advised.
Creation Station
In the spirit of encouraging young imaginations to soar, MCM has designated
a special spot for kids to create anything they can dream up. Kids are free
to dig through more than twelve bins of arts and crafts supplies to bring
their inspirations to life! Kids are welcome to take their works of art home
with them or leave them for us to put on display. The Creation Station is
always open!

Every Saturday and Sunday (12 – 4 p.m.) our friendly volunteers are on hand to help provide inspiration and lead guided craft activities.
Children's
Advisory Council
WANTED: Kid Perspectives
We find out what kids love to see and do at the Manitoba Children’s Museum because we ask them. Kids are encouraged to join the Children’s Advisory Council (CAC) and share their opinions on museum programs and events.
Council Members attend events free of charge and offer their insights on the first Saturday of every month from October to May.
Call 924.4000 or visit the museum for more information
about your child becoming a Council Member.
Spring
and Summer Kids Explore Day Camps
